Steroid Injections Consent

You are being offered a steroid joint injection using methylprednisolone  and lidocaine local anaesthetic.

Methylprednisolone is a corticosteroid injection used to reduce inflammation within or around a painful joint or soft tissue area. Lidocaine is a local anaesthetic used to numb the area and may give short-term pain relief soon after the injection. This treatment may be considered for painful inflammatory joint or soft tissue conditions, including conditions affecting the shoulder, knee or thumb, elbow, wrist where assessment suggests that a steroid injection may be appropriate.
