Abortion Services

NHS Glasgow Abortion Service

The NHS Glasgow Abortion Service is based at the Sandyford Sexual Health Clinic. Sandyford provides options for early medical abortion (up to 9th week of pregnancy), late medical abortion (up to 18th week of pregnancy) and surgical abortion, as well as an abortion assessment clinic, sexual health screening and specialist post-abortion counselling and resources to help you make an informed choice about your pregnancy.

You can access the service through self-referral by calling 0141 211 8620 between 8:45AM and 4PM, Mon–Fri (excluding public holidays). Please ensure you are able to speak privately when you call as you will be asked for some personal details relating to your appointment. If you wish to speak to your GP first, please book a consultation with one of our clinicians.

In accordance with the Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) (Scotland) Act 2024, the Sandyford Sexual Health Clinic is covered by a Safe Access Zone. This protects you from unlawful obstruction and harassment while trying to access the clinic and its services.

Our practice

Barclay Medical Practice University offers hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for patients experiencing menopause and perimenopause. We aim to match each patient with an individualised HRT treatment plan that takes into account their symptoms, healthcare needs and personal preferences. If you’re registered with us, you’re welcome to book a consultation with one of our clinicians to discuss your menopausal symptoms, and what an HRT treatment plan for you would entail, before you make a decision on whether or not to start HRT.

If HRT is not an option you are considering, our clinicians can also offer non-hormonal symptom management strategies and information about alternative treatment plans.
